NZ Optics, 1996
Job opportunities in the optical industry and marketing oneself for the job market were topics that Mr Ian Handricks discussed with a group of final year students at Selwyn College recently.
Returning to his old school is something that Ian does each year on Careers Day to talk about the optical industry and its different facets which may interest students.
According to Ian, presentation of CV, attitude and selling yourself is just as important as your qualifications.
"It is becoming more competitive in the job market and l just want to help these students with a few tips to get ahead and stand out from others seeking a position or career.
Accompanying Ian was Meree Renham from Hirstlens who has had twenty years experience in the optical industry. Meree spoke to the students about working in a contact lens manufacturing laboratory.
